Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

By RyanApr 09,2025

Saber Interactive has firmly stated that all of its previously announced projects are still actively in development, despite the ongoing silence surrounding high-profile titles like the eagerly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent reveal of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber Interactive's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to reassure fans that the studio's entire lineup remains in production.

"Saber Interactive stands as one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits emphasized. "We're currently engaged in developing numerous games across a wide array of genres. Rest assured, everything we've announced is still in development. We'll share updates on our upcoming games as soon as we have exciting news to reveal."

The most talked-about project in Willits' statement is undoubtedly the KOTOR remake, which has become one of the most elusive projects in gaming. Initially announced in 2021, this long-awaited remake has undergone multiple developer changes, seemingly paused and restarted development, and after four years, it has yet to see the light of day.

In April 2024, Saber Interactive's CEO, Matthew Karch, confirmed that the KOTOR project was taken with them during their split from Embracer Group and remains in active development. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch stated at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."

Willits' recent statement, nearly a year after Karch's comments, reaffirms the ongoing commitment to the KOTOR remake. However, fans are still left without any new visuals or updates beyond the initial announcement video.

In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive is working on several other titles, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both slated for release in 2025, though specific dates have yet to be announced. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project.

With the addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their roster, Saber Interactive continues to expand its portfolio. For more details on what chapters and enemy factions might be featured in Space Marine 3, be sure to check out IGN's comprehensive article on the subject.
