Summary
- Microsoft has unveiled the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in early January 2025, including Road 96, My Time at Sandrock, and Diablo.
- Six titles will be leaving the service this month, including Exoprimal and Those Who Remain.
Microsoft kicked off 2025 with its first Xbox Game Pass lineup announcement. While leaks and rumors had already set expectations for January, subscribers now have the official scoop on what's new and what's departing this month. Just one week into the new year, and it's clear that 2025 will be another thrilling year for Xbox Game Pass enthusiasts.
This announcement follows Microsoft's earlier reveal of significant updates to Xbox Game Pass, such as age restrictions and changes to the rewards system. These updates are now in effect, perfectly timed with the introduction of the first batch of games for the year.
On January 7, 2025, Microsoft unveiled seven new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass on its official blog. One of these, the choice-driven Road 96 from 2021, is immediately available across all Game Pass tiers, including PC Game Pass. After a brief departure in June 2023, Road 96 makes its return to the platform, announced alongside other titles in December 2024. The remaining six games will roll out later in January, with most arriving on January 8 and the last two on January 14.
New Games on Xbox Game Pass for January 2025
- Road 96, available January 7
- Lightyear Frontier (Preview), available January 8
- My Time at Sandrock, available January 8
- Robin Hood – Sherwood Builders, available January 8
- Rolling Hills, available January 8
- UFC 5, available January 14
- Diablo, available January 14
Leaks had hinted at the arrival of Diablo and UFC 5, and these rumors have now been confirmed with specific release dates. However, not all subscribers will have access to these titles. Diablo is exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass users, while UFC 5 is limited to Ultimate members only. The rest of the lineup, including the sci-fi Lightyear Frontier in its early access phase, is available with a Standard subscription.
As of January 7, new perks for Game Pass Ultimate members have also been introduced. These include a weapon charm for Apex Legends and DLC packs for First Descendant, Vigor, and Metaball. Alongside these new additions, six games are set to leave Xbox Game Pass on January 15. Microsoft has officially confirmed the departing titles as:
- Common'hood
- Escape Academy
- Exoprimal
- Figment
- Insurgency Sandstorm
- Those Who Remain
These announcements cover only the first half of January, so Xbox fans should keep an eye out for the next lineup reveal for the latter part of the month and beyond.
