Conquering Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively challenges players, teaching them to master its mechanics. While not excessively long, the game features several formidable bosses. Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, tests your combat skills, abilities, and strategic understanding.

Defeating Gyalva: A Strategic Approach

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health (Normal): 1200

Following Guilen, The Fire Eater, you'll encounter Gyalva deep within the Zone of Lava. The key to victory lies in utilizing the bridge's edges strategically.

The limited movement options and the unstable bridge, constantly disrupted by Gyalva's attacks, demand precise timing and positioning. Focus on quick bursts of attacks from one end of the bridge, utilizing wind magic to maximize damage output. This aggressive, hit-and-run tactic is crucial.

Understanding Gyalva's Attacks

Gyalva, a unique boss not present in the original Ys III, employs several devastating attacks. While the combat is straightforward, Gyalva's attacks inflict substantial damage if you're unprepared. Gyalva moves across the bridge, disrupting the platforms with fiery attacks.

Consider upgrading Adol's equipment and aiming for level 21 before engaging Gyalva. This is achievable by defeating regular enemies along the way.

Spinning Attacks (Two Variations)

Gyalva performs two types of spinning attacks:

  1. A localized spin affecting a portion of the bridge, sending platforms airborne. Evade by moving to the unaffected side.
  2. A full-bridge spin, forcing you to the bridge's ledges for safety. Staying near one side ensures a quick escape to the ledge. Avoid the very edge to prevent being cornered.

Fire Blast

Gyalva launches fireballs, disrupting platforms and causing damage. However, this attack creates an opening for you to strike back.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge sporadically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball traveling between them. These bursts are unpredictable, but the area is safe once the burst subsides.

By mastering these strategies and adequately preparing Adol, you'll be well-equipped to overcome Gyalva and continue your journey in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana.
