Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Performance Evaluated on All Platforms
Stunning Visuals Powered by CryEngine

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) impresses with robust performance across multiple platforms, based on extensive testing and media reports. PlayStation and Xbox consoles handle the game seamlessly at 30fps or 60fps, while the PS5 Pro enhances visuals with superior rendering. KCD2’s lifelike graphics, driven by CryTek’s CryEngine, set it apart from most titles.
Following the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, KCD2 leverages CryEngine, a choice Warhorse Studios made due to their expertise with the engine. This familiarity enabled the team to refine and expand features for the sequel.
PC Gamer highlights CryEngine’s traditional rendering approach, which prioritizes performance with simpler shaders and lighting compared to engines like Unreal. This focus ensures efficiency without sacrificing quality.
Despite its classic rendering, KCD2 achieves photorealistic visuals through physically based materials. Eurogamer praises CryEngine’s sparse voxel octree global illumination (SVOGI), which delivers realistic indirect lighting, enhancing effects like torch glow, metal reflections, and object interactions.
PlayStation and Xbox Offer 30fps and 60fps Modes

PS5 and Xbox Series X feature two modes: fidelity mode at 30fps and 1440p, and performance mode at 60fps and 1080p. Xbox Series S supports only fidelity mode, while PS5 Pro defaults to 60fps at 1296p, upscaled to 4K via PSSR.
Fidelity mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X enhances visuals with denser foliage and improved shadows across landscapes compared to performance mode. This elevates outdoor scenes and ambient occlusion quality. PS5 Pro pushes these visuals further, offering sharper images, refined ambient occlusion, and superior object detail.
Optional Upscaling for PC Players

PC players can opt out of upscaling in KCD2, tailoring settings to their hardware. PC Gamer notes limited upscaling options, with only FSR and DLSS available for lower-resolution rendering. Intel’s XeSS, sharpening, and frame generation are absent.
Built on the performance-oriented CryEngine, KCD2 remains demanding on GPUs, especially at 4K with maximum settings. However, its scalable graphics offer five presets—low, medium, high, ultra, and experimental—allowing players to optimize for their setup.
KCD2’s developers released a comprehensive guide to prepare systems for the game, detailing CPU, RAM, GPU, and storage requirements, along with tips for ensuring a smooth experience.
