Outer Worlds 2 Development Update: Smooth Sailing Despite ChallengesObsidian Entertainment's CEO, Feargus Urquhart, recently provided a positive update on the development of The Outer Worlds 2, assuring fans that progress is strong despite past hurdles. This update comes alongside news about their other major project, Avowed.

Obsidian's Confidence in Upcoming RPGs

Urquhart, in a Limit Break Network interview, highlighted the team's dedication and expertise working on *The Outer Worlds 2*. He emphasized the experience within the team, many of whom worked on the original title. He expressed significant confidence in their ability to deliver a high-quality sequel.

The CEO candidly addressed the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and post-Microsoft acquisition. Juggling multiple projects, including Grounded and Pentiment, significantly impacted development timelines. He acknowledged a period of slowed progress, even mentioning initial discussions about halting The Outer Worlds 2 to focus resources on Avowed. However, the decision was made to persevere with all projects.

Obsidian's Multi-Project Development Challenges"We were juggling acquisitions, the pandemic, finishing Outer Worlds and its DLC, pushing forward Avowed, restarting Outer Worlds 2, and managing Grounded and Pentiment simultaneously," Urquhart recalled.

Despite the setbacks, Urquhart highlighted the successful launches of Grounded and Pentiment, and expressed enthusiasm for the progress on both Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, describing the latter as "looking incredible." While specific details remain undisclosed, the recent delay of Avowed to 2025 suggests potential timeline adjustments for other Obsidian projects.

Positive Outlook for The Outer Worlds 2Since its 2021 announcement, The Outer Worlds 2 has seen limited updates, leading to speculation about potential delays. Urquhart acknowledged this possibility but reassured fans of Obsidian's commitment to delivering exceptional games. He confirmed that while initial timelines might not be met, the studio is dedicated to releasing both titles, targeting PC and Xbox Series S/X.
