The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an exciting preview of the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. According to a community post by publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive, these preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encompass "most" of the features planned for Update 7.0. However, they caution that the final version of the 7.0 patch notes may differ as the development team continues to refine and address bug fixes.
PC players of Space Marine 2 participating in the PTS have a wealth of new content to explore, which is not yet available on consoles. Update 7.0 introduces a new PvE mission named Exfiltration, a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol—available to the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, endgame-focused prestige ranks in PvE, and the addition of private PvP lobbies.
For fans eager to personalize their experience, Update 7.0 brings exciting customization options, including new colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. Additionally, customization rewards in PvP have been boosted by 50%. The PTS also introduces the Imperial Fists Champion skin for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
Significant balance changes accompany the update, with an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE allowing all classes a broader choice of weapons. Notably, the Assault class can now use the Power Sword without mods. Players are encouraged to delve into the detailed patch notes to understand the various tweaks made to the game's weapons.
A particularly welcome change comes to the Inferno Operation, where players reaching the assembly area in the final stage will now trigger a forced teleportation of other players after a set time. This update aims to address a longstanding issue of griefing, where players could indefinitely block progress by staying outside the assembly area.
