Supercell Seeks Talent for Clash of Clans Film and TV Projects

By LiamApr 25,2025

Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be making its way to the big screen? It's more likely than you might think. Supercell, the renowned Finnish mobile game developer, has initiated a search for a senior film and TV development executive. This move echoes the path taken by fellow Finnish developer Rovio, which successfully brought their Angry Birds franchise to the movies back in 2016.

While it's tempting to jump to conclusions, our colleagues at PocketGamer.biz point out that the job description suggests a more measured approach. Rather than immediately jumping into production, the role focuses on crafting a strategy for both live-action and animated films, as well as exploring theatrical and streaming distribution options. In business terms, this indicates a 'watch-and-wait' strategy. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Supercell is already sketching out preliminary ideas, should they decide to venture into the film and/or animation space.

Clash for the ages

Supercell has been pushing boundaries with their game catalogue, notably through high-profile crossovers and collaborations, such as their partnership with WWE. Given this trend, moving into film seems like a logical next step for the developer.

It's worth noting that there was a seven-year gap between the launch of Angry Birds and its movie adaptation. Similarly, despite the time that has passed since Clash of Clans debuted, it still commands a significant audience. Additionally, Supercell's newer IPs, like Mo.co, could potentially be developed into more kid-friendly films.

We'll need to keep an eye on how this unfolds. In the meantime, if you're looking for something to keep you entertained, check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week.
