GSC Game World has released a substantial patch (1.2) for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, addressing approximately 1,700 bugs and enhancements. This massive update, detailed on Steam, encompasses various game aspects, including balance adjustments, location refinements, quest fixes, crash resolution, performance improvements, and significant A-Life 2.0 system overhauls.
Following its November launch, STALKER 2 garnered positive Steam reviews and achieved 1 million sales, a remarkable feat given the challenges faced by the Ukrainian studio amidst the 2022 Russian invasion. However, the game's launch was marred by well-documented issues, particularly concerning A-Life 2.0, a core system from the original STALKER game responsible for dynamic AI behavior. While intended to create an unprecedentedly immersive and emergent gameplay experience, A-Life 2.0's initial implementation fell short.
GSC Game World previously addressed the A-Life 2.0 shortcomings in an IGN interview, outlining their commitment to rectifying the problems. Patch 1.1, released in December, served as the initial fix, with patch 1.2 representing a major step forward.
