Exclusive: GTA 6 Premiums Unveiled: Up to $150 for Special Editions, Online Perks

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, was a driving force behind the introduction of the $70 price point for AAA game releases. Concerns exist that this pricing strategy might extend even further with the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

While a standard edition of GTA VI might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a price tag of $80-100, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced between $100-$150 could be offered, potentially including early access benefits.

Adding to the speculation, Tez2 notes that Take-Two already sells GTA Online and Red Dead Online separately. GTA VI will mark a departure, however, with online functionality sold separately at launch, while the story mode will be bundled as part of a "complete package" encompassing both components.

This dual-release strategy introduces pricing complexities. The cost of the standalone online component will directly impact the overall price. Furthermore, the price of an upgrade to access the story mode for those who initially purchased only the online version remains undetermined.

A lower price point for the online version could attract players who find the $70 or $80 price tag prohibitive. Take-Two could capitalize on this by offering a story mode upgrade, creating a revenue stream from players who may not be able to afford the full game upfront.

This strategy could further evolve into a Game Pass-like subscription model, leveraging GTA+. Players who continue playing the online component instead of saving for the story mode upgrade would generate consistent revenue for Take-Two, ultimately benefiting the publisher.
