The highly anticipated single-player action game, Lost Soul Aside, has faced a delay of three months, shifting its release from May 30 to August 29, 2025, as announced by its developer, Ultizero Games. Initially set to launch next month after nearly a decade of development for PC and PlayStation 5, the game's release has been pushed back to allow the team additional time to polish the experience.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games expressed in their statement. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a significant title under Sony's China Hero Project. Bing, now the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his vision grow from a solo endeavor to a major release. Recently, IGN had the chance to discuss with Yang Bing the extensive journey to launch, highlighting the transformation of Lost Soul Aside from a solo creator's dream to a highly anticipated game showcased at Sony's State of Play.
The excitement surrounding Lost Soul Aside has been palpable, with many fans and critics alike drawing comparisons to the character designs of Final Fantasy and the dynamic combat of Devil May Cry. This buzz began when Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral back in 2016. The game features the protagonist, Kesar, who uses a versatile, shape-shifting weapon that alters his combat style. Accompanying Kesar is his dragon-like companion, Arena, who assists with summoned abilities.
Drawing inspiration from its predecessors, Lost Soul Aside focuses on aerial dodging, precision timing, elaborate combos, and countering mechanics, all of which come to life during epic boss battles. The narrative blends a sci-fi premise with contemporary aesthetics, guiding players through multiple dimensions. While the trailers leave much of the story shrouded in mystery, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
