Oblivion Remaster Keeps Original's Iconic Line Flub

By GabriellaJan 10,2026

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered revitalizes one of Bethesda's landmark titles with enhanced visuals, refined gameplay, and new features. Yet, the developers at Virtuos made sure to preserve one of the original game's most memorable quirks.

Longtime fans of The Elder Scrolls series will undoubtedly recall Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Imperial City's Temple of the One. When Oblivion first released over 19 years ago on PC and Xbox 360, players quickly noticed Tandilwe herself could use some vocal coaching. One of her lines features what is widely believed to be a mistakenly included audio clip—a second take by voice actress Linda Kenyon that was left in the final game.

As players began exploring the refreshed world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how faithful this comprehensive remaster truly is. While countless environments, character models, and items have received a visual overhaul, fans are delighted to find that many of the charming imperfections that defined the 2006 original remain untouched. Tandilwe's infamous—and hilarious—recording blooper is one such detail that has returned to the delight of the community, presented exactly as it was nearly two decades ago, complete with its missing subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with the YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Kenyon was informed about the Oblivion blooper's inclusion and its subsequent internet fame. Her reaction was to clarify, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players diving into Oblivion Remastered are debating whether Bethesda's re-release leans more toward a remake than a remaster, others are simply pleased to see so much of its original character and rough charm preserved. This was a key aspect Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to maintaining, and the decision appears to be resonating well with both newcomers and series veterans alike.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launched unexpectedly yesterday for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
