Capcom recently shared a pre-launch update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console performance, weapon balancing, and a significant reduction in minimum PC requirements. Let's dive into the details!
Console Performance: A Look at the Targets
The December 19th community update stream, featuring director Yuya Tokuda, revealed performance goals for consoles. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer two modes:
- Prioritize Graphics: 4K resolution at 30fps.
- Prioritize Framerate: 1080p resolution at 60fps.
Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p and 30fps. Improvements have been made, including a fix for a rendering bug in the framerate mode. While PS5 Pro support is confirmed with enhanced visuals at launch, specific details remain undisclosed.

PC Specs: Good News for More Players
Previously announced PC specifications are being revised. Capcom is actively working to lower the minimum requirements, expanding accessibility to a broader player base. Further details on these adjusted specs will be released closer to launch. The possibility of a PC benchmark tool is also being explored.
Second Open Beta? Maybe.
A second open beta test is under consideration. If it happens, it's intended primarily as a second chance for players who missed the first. Importantly, the improvements and adjustments detailed in the recent stream will not be included in a potential second beta, only the final release.

Gameplay Refinements:
The stream also highlighted improvements to hitstop and sound effects for a more impactful feel, reduced friendly fire instances, and weapon balancing tweaks, with particular focus on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
