REPO developers are implementing changes to difficulty scaling by introducing new mechanics at every 10-level interval. Discover upcoming modifications to the Overcharge system and learn what the development team has been working on during the game's open beta phase.
REPO Development Updates
Overcharge System Redesign
Following REPO's open beta release, the development team at Semiwork analyzed valuable player feedback, particularly regarding the Overcharge mechanic. This feature enables players to counter enemies by throwing them against surfaces or away from teammates, though excessive use fills an Overcharge meter that triggers an explosive reaction.
Originally available from game start, Overcharge will now unlock at level 10. The developers plan to introduce additional challenge mechanics at 10-level increments (20, 30, etc.), with Overcharge serving as the first tier of this progressive difficulty system. These mechanics will maintain narrative cohesion, as Semiwork explains: "This system connects directly with our lore - it's not just an arbitrary gameplay element. We'll reveal more details about these connections in future updates."
Developers Participated in Live Matches
During the open beta, Semiwork team members secretly joined random matches to gather direct player feedback. Developer Pontus Sundström shared: "I've enjoyed playing alongside many of you anonymously through the matchmaking system, discussing which elements players find most enjoyable and what could use improvement."
Semiwork intends to continue refining REPO based on community input from the open beta. Players can expect further announcements about upcoming features and improvements. For the latest R.E.P.O. news, explore our related coverage below.
