Unfrozen Studio, the developers behind Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, have unveiled further details about the Swarm faction, a unique addition to the game's roster. The team delved into their design inspiration, tracing the evolution of the faction from its initial "Inferno" concept to the final, chillingly unique "Swarm," and its place within the overarching narrative of the Jadame continent.

The Swarm's defining characteristic is its remarkable adaptability. Certain creatures possess abilities directly influenced by the strength of their opponents; the greater the disparity, the more devastating the attack. Others, such as the mantises, exhibit tactical flexibility, choosing from three distinct abilities each turn. A particularly gruesome element is the ability of creatures like worms and locusts to consume corpses, restoring health and boosting their power—a skill that even heroes can acquire.

In Olden Era, the insectoid Swarm assumes the mantle of the demonic threat, a race only briefly alluded to in Might & Magic 8.
