⚫︎ In an interview featured in PC Gamer's upcoming issue 408 (396 in the U.S.), DOOM: The Dark Ages director Hugo Martin and producer Marty Stratton discussed the possibility of challenge runs with the game's new melee and parry mechanics. Martin hinted that a melee-only playthrough, while technically possible, would be "slightly out of bounds" for most players.

Stratton noted that attempting such a run could lead to a less enjoyable experience, akin to the challenging pistol-only Ultra Nightmare mode from Doom 2016.

⚫︎ During an interview for PC Gamer's upcoming print issue, DOOM: The Dark Ages developers Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton provided insights into the game's narrative conclusion. Contrary to fan expectations, the story won't end with the Slayer being locked in a coffin, as seen in Doom 2016's opening.

Martin clarified that ending with the Slayer's imprisonment would limit future medieval-era stories. Instead, The Dark Ages aims to be a part of a larger "Chronicles of the Slayer" saga, leaving room for more prequels.
