Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types

Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each Operation, offering diverse strategic options. With six distinct weapon types available, players can tailor their character to any preferred playstyle. The game features three gun types and three melee types, each fully customizable. Let's explore the unique characteristics of each:

Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered

New weapons are acquired through completing operations or purchasing them from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapons are predetermined, players have complete control over their Accessory's weapon. Switching weapons frequently incurs no penalties.

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee Quick attacks ideal for fast-paced combat, effective against single targets. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee Wide-ranging attacks dealing high damage. Well-placed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed.
Polearm Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for significant ranged damage.
Assault Weapons High ammo capacity, perfect as a primary weapon for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with the Thorne for advantageous positioning.
Portable Artillery High single-shot damage but low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed.
Autocannons High rate of fire with substantial ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, but the rapid fire compensates. Reduces movement speed.

Unlike player characters, Accessories don't require ammo for gun weapons. This strategic element adds another layer of depth to combat customization.
